Update: 9/16/25: Cristin had a pretty good, though very busy and draining, day. She worked with OT (Michelle—fantastic!) and PT (Timmy—also fantastic!), both of whom continue to be such a blessing in her recovery.

Her doctors noticed some redness around her incision that raised concern, so this afternoon she went for a CT scan. The results showed a few fluid pockets that could mean a number of things, including the early stages of an infection. She still has a drain in place from one of the incisions, and that fluid has been sent for culture.

To be safe, her team has added additional antibiotics and instructed her to remain NPO after midnight. Tomorrow, interventional radiology (IR) may decide to drain some of these pockets using a CT-guided procedure, or possibly place additional drains near the incision. We’ll know more in the morning.

(UPDATE TO THE UPDATE)

There is no sign of infection, so there will be no IR procedure this morning. And she gets to shower today!!!)

Please continue to pray that this isn’t a post-op infection starting—but if it is, we are grateful that it was caught early and is already being treated.

On a positive note, we received wonderful news today: Cristin has been accepted into one of the best rehab facilities around—Mt. Sinai Hospital! We are very excited and hopeful as she prepares to begin a more intensive rehab program there soon.
